The Battle of the Three Forests (2vs2, 2000pts each)

As the repairs of Fortress New England continued the soldiers of the 39th starting clearing and cutting woods around the Fortress. This didn't go unnoticed by the Wood Elves in the region and soon several soldiers and logging parties were found dead, shot by arrows.

General McDraken tasked Major General Stewart to take a force to stop these attacks. With the threat of so many arrows the force consisted of 92th Gordon Highlanders and 10 Hussars and Lancers. Due to the mobility that was needed no artillery was taken but Brutus was taken along to smash a path through the dense forest.

After a weeks march Stewart's force came unto a clearing and saw Elven forces in the distance. Their chants echoed through the sky and suddenly dark mysterious beings were summoned.

Meanwhile scouts reported another heavily armored force coming from the west. Captain McDougall of the Gordon Highlanders was able to parley with the other force. Although he sensed a dark power behind this force it seemed they were also hunting the Elven forces and an unlikely alliance was formed. Soon both armies formed battle lines as the Elves and their Demons came into view.

Quickly the humans and their allies came under extensive arrow fire and quite some casualties were taken. Yet the 5th Hussars very early in the battle saw a chance to charge the Elven cavalry, who instead of taking the charge decided to flee. The charge was redirected into a group of Elven scouts who after a short combat fled as well. Continuing their momentum the 5th charged into a two Flaming Demons who crumbled under their charge and so they moved on into a block of Bloodletters. Here with only Major Hill and Father O'Leary left alive they were rescued by a combined charge of Maj. Gen. Stewart himself and a group of allied armoured warriors. This was to much for the Bloodletters and they crumbled into dust.

Meanwhile as the battle raged on the 20th Foot was brutally charged by the Elven cavalry who had rallied. Severe losses were to much and they fled straight into the enemy lines, only to reform behind the enemy battle line.

On the west flank the 7th Scottish was continuing their advance, first taking the Brewery from a group of Waywatchers, than marching on towards the main enemy battle line. Although they lost half they marched on without fear.

Brutus in the centre destroyed a of group of War Hawk riders after first firing a cannon shot in them and then bashing them to pulp. Yet his most heroic moment came at the end of the battle as a enraged Demon Lord of Khorne charged Brutus and critically injured him. But Brutus took his revenge and even though he had blood pooring from his wounds was able to smash, bite and slash the Demon Lord down, as his demonic saves had been weakened by the winds of magic.

While in the distance the Elven lord had fled the battle with his men after seeing a group of fellow Elves destroyed in one round by the armoured warriors. The battle had been won but at severe losses for the foot company and critical injuries to Brutus.
